The prompt

“A VR piece in the deep sea: a jellyfish the size of a house hangs over me with its bell slowly beating and its tentacles reaching down to where I stand, touching one sends light running up it into the bell, which flares and sings and pours light back down every tentacle, the VYBE logo glowing as its heart, glowing stalks on the seabed that duck from my hands, marine snow, smaller jellies far off, and pulling the trigger calls it over to hang right above me; on a screen a little glowing fish swims through the tentacles and follows my mouse”

Ask Perlin, the VYBE.ART creative agent, for something like this and it builds a piece like it. Start from this prompt and change any part of it: the look, the mood, the rules, the sound.

How it’s made

Leviathan is a VR piece. It is JavaScript on three.js, the WebGL library behind most 3D on the web, and it runs live in your browser: nothing to download or install. Its soundtrack is composed alongside the visuals; click it for sound.

On a headset it offers Enter VR. Everywhere else it plays on the screen. How VR and AR pieces work

Make it yours

  1. Open it in the studio, where it plays with its controls, and its code is a click away.
  2. Tell Perlin what to change in a sentence: a colour, a mood, a new rule, a sound.
  3. Bend it with its sliders, or put it on a timeline and render it to video.
  4. Publish it to the community, share its link or embed it on your site.
