Pocket Isle

A little island for your table: a lighthouse, palms and two boats sailing round.

The prompt

“A tiny island in a dish of sea that sits on my real table in AR, with soft shadows, a lighthouse, palm trees, a hut and a dock, a VYBE flag on the hill, gulls circling, two sailing boats going round it, a fish that leaps where I tap the sea and night falling when I tap the lighthouse”

Ask Perlin, the VYBE.ART creative agent, for something like this and it builds a piece like it. Start from this prompt and change any part of it: the look, the mood, the rules, the sound.

How it’s made

Pocket Isle is a VR and AR piece. It is JavaScript on three.js, the WebGL library behind most 3D on the web, and it runs live in your browser: nothing to download or install. Its soundtrack is composed alongside the visuals; click it for sound.

On a headset or an Android phone it offers Enter VR and Enter AR. Everywhere else it plays on the screen. How VR and AR pieces work
